My site's link preview shows no image on Slack, LinkedIn or X
When a link preview has no image or title, the Open Graph tags are missing from the HTML. Here's how to add og:title, og:image and Twitter Cards the right way.
Why it happens
Slack, LinkedIn, X and iMessage build link previews by reading the Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) from the page's HTML. They don't run JavaScript.
If the tags don't exist, or React injects them after load, the preview shows no image, the wrong title or just the URL. In a feed where you're competing for attention, that kills clicks.
How to check your app
- Paste the link into a Slack DM to yourself and look at the preview.
- Use LinkedIn's Post Inspector or Facebook's Sharing Debugger to see exactly what they read.
- Launch Check verifies og:title and og:image in your home page's initial HTML.
How to fix it
Add Open Graph and Twitter Card tags per route: og:title, og:description, og:image (1200x630, absolute URL), og:url and twitter:card=summary_large_image, in the initial HTML.
